Alumni of all batches were invited and total 53 Alumni were present for the event. This meet brought together different generations of alumni right from 1988-89 batch till 2014-15 batch. We extended a hearty welcome to the alumni and the all the faculty members were present for this event. After the welcome speech by our alumni coordinator, Prof. S. R. She then informed them about the recent activities that are taking place in the department and the efforts that department is persevering in order to fulfill industry requirements. She then requested alumni to give their valuable feedback to improvise the quality of graduates. Some of the alumni shared their experiences & there was a healthy discussion for and about the betterment of the students.
One of the alumnus Mr. Sudhir Ghuge who is currently working in ZS associates, who was also in-charge of recruitment of 2015 Batch campus drive of ZS Associates, shared his recruitment experience and said that MIT students are always surprising the recruiters with their preparation for placements. He said he was proud of the culture MIT is bringing to the students and the culture is also admired in the industry, he added. Mr. Ashish Annachatre, Entrepreneur, suggested making students aware of the recent technologies, which cannot be covered in the syllabus due to the time constraint. Alumni also assured assisting the department on Industrial Visits, which will give exposure to student about the work culture of IT companies.
Another topic that was put up for discussion was “Entrepreneurship”. Amongst who were present here that day; about 7-8 alumni have started their own company. They shared their experiences and gave brief about their company; most of the entrepreneur had some experience before starting up the company. Some of the alumni shared their experience of being the part of MCUG (MIT Computer Users Group) & Texephyr event too. Alumni also suggested integrating Student Section to ERP software or online for clearance forms, collecting TC etc.
After the discussion, Prof. Sheetal Vij proposed vote of thanks to the alumni who have come a long way to attend the Alumni Meet. Alumni were given a token of appreciation, a book called “ The Last Lecture “, by Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch.
Lunch arranged in Chandralok Canteen was an enjoyable experience. After lunch alumni interacted with students and took tour of the campus and Texephyr16.

Alumni Meet : 2014-15

The department of Computer Engineering continuously tries to keep in touch with the alumni and all the staff of the department has a firm belief in alumni relations. The faculty helps our past students with recommendations for their higher education and in every way which they can contribute to the alumnus of the department. Although MIT Alumni cell organizes frequent Alumni meets on the institute level; the Computer Engineering Department has taken a special initiative to conduct a Reunion of our very first batch (1988-89 batch) on 20th December 2014. It was a wonderful experience down the memory lane for everyone associated with the department, faculty, staff as well as our alumni. Total 20 alumni participated in the reunion that came from all over the nation and world to attend it and to meet each other. It was indeed a splendid experience for us.
